    We’re currently recruiting for a Sales Application Engineer on behalf of a successful and well-reputed international supplier to the engineering and manufacturing industries.

    Based at the company’s UK facility in Corby, the successful applicant will use their technical and commercial expertise to drive new business growth in a well-defined area, by developing and executing effective customer-level strategies to create opportunities and demand.

    This is an exciting and rewarding role with key involvement in the development and implementation of an annual business development plan to include lead generation, strategic new business opportunity management, and new customer acquisition.

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Driving business growth by growing revenue in objective areas through penetration of a set of target business development applications and customers;
    • Proactively generating sales opportunities within these groups resulting in new customer acquisition in support of the business development plan;
    • Creating and executing a business development plan to generate new business within defined market, channel, products, and geography to meet business goals, including strategies and penetration plans for target applications and customers which cover both the short and long term;
    • Developing and executing company and sales project-specific strategies using the solution selling process to secure new business objectives;
    • Monitoring reports, and analysing progress in achieving defined objectives in the business development plan;
    • Actively developing and driving strategies for sales opportunities with customers.
    • Utilising the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to catalog and track objectives, strategies, and tactics;
    • Remaining knowledgeable of the competitive landscape;
    • Developing strategies to win market share from competition by analysing products and creating winning selling strategies based on market research;
    • Presenting in or attending trade shows as appropriate, utilising show opportunities develop potential customers and/or markets;
    • Recommending changes and implementing pricing policies developed by management.

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • Engineering Degree, or Business/Marketing degree with strong technical aptitude;
    • Extensive sales or business development experience, preferably in solution sales of direct materials or products into engineered assemblies and applications;
    • Documented success in business development;
    • The vision to develop, document, communicate and achieve a plan and objectives;
    • Demonstrated ability to develop strong internal and external business relationships;
    • Ability to travel based on business needs and sales objectives;
    • Takes an entrepreneurial and innovative approach;
    • Intellectually curious and willing to learn;
    • Confident developing and working to a plan with autonomy;
    • Tenacity to find answers and develop solutions independently;
    • Collaborative minded team player;
    • Excellent negotiation skills;
    • Strong ability to create strategic plans and successfully implement them by positively influencing others without authority.

     

    Hours of work

    • Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm

     

    Salary and benefits:

    • £35,000 – £40,000 with excellent benefits
