    We are currently supporting the recruitment of a Business Development Manager for a forward-thinking and rapidly growing Leicestershire business, known as a leader in providing electronics solutions to a range of industries.

    This is an exciting role which will offer the opportunity for regular overseas travel in order to support the company’s international growth plans. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining long-lasting and profitable business relationships on a global scale.

    As such, we’re looking for someone sales-focused with first class communication skills, who excels in building client confidence and establishing rapport through taking a positive, knowledgeable and engaging approach.

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Working with senior management (locally and at group level) to understand the target markets and associated company strategies in order to be able to focus activities effectively
    • Proactively identifying new opportunities and devising strategies required to convert
    • Developing a detailed understanding of product offering, markets and competitors
    • Providing input to R&D for new product development based on knowledge and understanding of the needs and requirements of different target markets
    • Engaging with both existing and potential new customers on a business development or account management basis, as appropriate
    • Interpreting customer requirements and presenting the most appropriate solution, or selection of solutions
    • Carrying out detailed cost assessments and presenting quotations to the customer in accordance with company bidding and margin guidelines in force at the time
    • Following up on significant opportunities as required and adjusting proposals accordingly to close the business
    • Meeting and exceeding sales and business development targets
    • Ensuring all details of customers and orders are handed over effectively to Operations staff in an accurate and timely manner
    • Maintaining accurate records and monitoring trends for customers/prospects, opportunities, proposals and orders, using CRM wherever possible
    • Undertaking sales and product-related projects as specified or delegated by the Managing Director
    • Assisting with trade shows and exhibitions as necessary
    • International travel, restrictions permitting

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • Strong proven track record in B2B sales, business development and / or account management within an electronics or similar technical business
    • Educated in a relevant technical discipline (such as Engineering), preferably to degree-level
    • Able to demonstrate strong sales figures and overachievement of targets
    • Experience in all stages of the sales cycle, with evidence of strong people and negotiation skills
    • Detailed understanding of business development requirements within the electronics marketplace
    • Able to track and win opportunities by networking between End Customers, OEM’s, Integrators, Contract Manufacturers and Electronics Manufacturing Services, as necessary, on a global level
    • IT proficient, with a good knowledge of MS Office and ideally Sage 200
    • Can provide examples of building solid, lasting client relationships
    • Confident and engaging presentation skills
    • Ambitious, target driven and tenacious
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
    • Demonstrates a self-motivated and competitive approach with a positive and resilient character
    • Able to work autonomously and travel globally

     

    Salary and benefits:

    • £30,000 – £40,000 basic (£50,000 OTE)
