Welcome to 2020
I hope you had a lovely festive break and managed to get some rest and relaxation along the way.
How has it been getting back into your normal routine? I’m about there now but this week has felt quite brutal.
I find coming back to work after Christmas much harder than any other holiday. Most of the time I take off during the year is spent away from home; either on holiday or on trips and days out with the kids. But nearly all of my Christmas break is spent with my family at home. So, when it comes to going back to work, having to leave our little cocoon, wearing shoes and to not be grazing on cheese, is quite a struggle!
New Year, new plans
It’s no secret that I read a lot of business, strategy and healthy mindset books. So, I had been on the lookout for something to dig into over the December break. I found, The 12 Week Year (there is also a website and videos that go over the content that’s in the book).
The book is basically about unlocking your ‘knowing-doing gap’ to enable you to achieve more. It draws on techniques used by athletes and highly productive people.
I have learnt lots of tactics that I am going to be putting to the test. It’s worth a read but I’ll let you know in a future post if I find it changes anything for me and my productivity.
What have you read that has stayed with you and impacted how you live? I’m very keen to hear your recommendations.
New Year, new team member
Recruiting for my own team is a great experience for me. It allows me to put myself in your shoes and put my business processes to the test. I got the chance to do just this not long ago and I’m very excited to announce that we have welcomed Caitlin Herbert to Team Vanilla.
Caitlin has joined Jaimini in our permanent office recruitment team. She has lots of experience and worked in office recruitment at Hays for the last two years. She’s a fantastically engaging consultant who really cares about the businesses and people she works with.

New Year, new website on its way
We always like to keep our website fresh, informative and user friendly, packed full of handy tools and tips for recruitment and job seeking.
Our current site is a few years old and it wasn’t quite giving us what we wanted, so we have a shiny new site in development. I really like being able to dip my toe into a creative and strategic project like this. I’ll keep you posted on developments – it’s very exciting!
