    We’re currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant on behalf of a distributor, known internationally for their well-loved brands.

    The successful candidate will report directly into the Head of Finance and be responsible for completing accounts up to trial balance and assisting the Operations and Finance Controller with month end accounts. This is an interesting and varied role and presents a wonderful opportunity to join an enterprising and cohesive team. It would be advantageous if  candidates have had previous exposure to a corporate environment (global company or brand) but also have an understanding of working within an SME organisation.

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Managing accruals and prepayments
    • Reconcile balance sheet
    • Fixed Asset Schedules
    • Client account reconciliations
    • Bank reconciliations, posting and balancing
    • Preparation of payment runs and BACS transfers
    • Accounts up to trial balance
    • Transactional accounting PL / SL
    • Multi currently accounting
    • Client account reconciliations
    • Bank reconciliations, posting and balancing
    • Daily receipts processing
    • Preparation of payment runs and BACS transfers
    • Taking ownership of the debtor ledger and chasing debt by telephone and email and reducing debtor days
    • Escalating risks and reviews of bad debts

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and accounts up to trial balance (Minimum of AAT Level 3 and above but QBE will be considered)
    • Previous experience of credit control in a B2B environment
    • A high level of IT user competence, particularly in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP’s & Formulas) with practical experience of using accountancy software systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV 365 desirable)
    • An approachable and engaging communicator
    • Helpful team member, happy to provide support to colleagues in other areas where required

     

    Hours of work:

    • Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.00pm (½ hour lunch break) – 37.5 hours per week

     

    Salary and benefits:

    • Circa £32,000 dependent upon experience
    • 23 days annual holiday + 8 bank holidays (3 to be taken at Christmas)
    • Discretionary bonus
