Our client is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join their small finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out general sales ledger and credit control duties and building relationships with customers to ensure that credit is monitored and controlled effectively. The role will also involve mentoring and training junior staff members.
Please note that this role will be office based.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Collection of aged debt from a portfolio of customers via telephone and email and logging of all information
- Preparation of credit notes and manual invoices (approx. 100 per month)
- Update and maintain customer pricing / billing system
- Posting of receipts (bank / credit card payments)
- Month end duties including intercompany recharges
- Ensure customer disputes are resolved quickly and efficiently
- Liaise with internal contacts to resolve customer queries / account issues
- Mentoring, training and development of the Assistant Credit Controller
- Escalation of debt to external debt management organisation where appropriate
Skills and experience required:
- Minimum of 3 years accounting experience predominantly within credit control
- Strong Sage 50 experience is essential as well as a good understanding of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP’s and formulas)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Understanding of good customer service
- Good negotiation skills
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm (30 mins lunch)
Salary and benefits:
- Circa £26,000
