    We’re delighted to be recruiting for a knowledgeable and proactive Senior Buyer on behalf of a prestigious, class-leading manufacturing company with an excellent international reputation in its industry.

    The successful candidate will manage a commodity group of products by taking responsibility for the sourcing of materials, negotiation and management of commercial contracts.

    You will enjoy working collaboratively with other areas within the business, covering both direct and indirect categories as well as support the purchasing function across production.

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Undertaking the procurement of assigned commodities of materials to meet the production schedule, sourcing suppliers and products that fit with the context of the brand.
    • Negotiating with vendors to achieve best value to required quality levels, lead times, price and payment terms.
    • Handling negotiation of supplier pricing and contract reviews
    • Conducting routine supplier reviews, evaluating supplier performance and compliance
    • Assisting Operational and Design functions with supplier evaluation, supplier performance, discrepancies to material specifications, short shipments, payment terms and other general commercial activities.
    • Taking responsibility for maintaining item description integrity including costs, MOQ, and inventory levels management.
    • Identifying areas of potential cost reductions and analyze the impact to the P&L.
    • Resolving issues relating to supplier performance, invoices and or delivery documentation.
    • Recommending and implementing initiatives with respect to inventory holdings.
    • Actioning Change Notice Requests relevant to allocated category and vendors.
    • Abiding by all Company Ethics; Code of Conduct; Attendance Policy; and Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines; as well as Procurement policies and procedures.
    • Carrying out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by your line manager.

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • Extensive prior experience of working as a buyer in a manufacturing environment.
    • CIPS qualified (preferred).
    • Minimum 2 A Levels (or equivalent qualifications).
    • Confident liaising with suppliers, and able to give examples of successful negotiation.
    • Good knowledge of Excel to an Intermediate level with the ability to analyse data.
    • Excellent communication skills with a positive, results-driven approach.
    • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment and meeting deadlines.

     

    Hours of work:

    • Monday to Friday 8.00am – 4.30pm

     

    Salary and benefits:
