    Due to increased growth, a new opportunity has been created within our client’s Tax team. The role is involved with the calculation and compilation of HMRC Compliant Tax Rebate Claims within a niche area. The ideal candidate is not required to have existing tax knowledge, but the role is suited to someone who has completed a law or accountancy degree as it will be working in a technical and regulated industry. Full training will be provided within their modern offices within this fast-growing advisory firm.

    To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the ability to work methodically, showing a high level of attention to detail. You will have an inquisitive mind, with the confidence to ask questions and seek further information coupled with a professional telephone manner and the ability to communicate effectively.


    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Act as the first point of contact for clients to identify full relevant facts and possible solutions
    • Using our web-based case management system – Recording client details, transactional information and case progression
    • Correctly calculate the SDLT liability for each client
    • Identifying matters that need to be escalated to senior staff and progress those cases under the direct supervision of senior staff
    • Taking a lead role in delivering client projects.
    • Liaise with relevant legal bodies, HMRC and other government institutions on client matters
    • Monitoring and upholding a high quality of service to all clients


    Experience and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s or equivalent University degree, or equivalent work-related experience
    • A law or finance (ATT/AAT studier) background would be an advantage (not essential)
    • A self-starter who is resourceful and can take initiative on tasks from start to finish
    • Ability to take ownership and work well under pressure
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong communicator, both written and verbally
    • Assertive and able to show initiative when dealing with clients
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritise a large workload
    • An inquisitive mind with the confidence to ask questions and develop knowledge
    • A team player and works well within a small team
    • A general awareness of the UK tax system (primarily stamp taxes) would be an advantage but is not a requirement as relevant training would be given


    Salary and benefits:

    • £18,000 – £21,000
    • 9.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (35 hours per week)
    • 25 days + bank holidays
    • Pension
    • Bonus scheme (based on company and individual performance) after 6 months successful probation
    • Potential for support and sponsorship towards taxation specific professional qualifications
    • Hybrid role – training in the office and then the role will be a mixture of home and office working
