Job Description

Our client is seeking a standalone Accountant to join their friendly SME organisation based just outside Market Harborough. The successful applicant will be working with the Director of the organisation and will have day to day management of the office as well as completing the Accounting function for the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day to day accounting
  • Responsibility for daily management of cash/bank and invoice discount transactions
  • Weekly payments to suppliers and management of income from clients
  • Managing and processing of credit card expenses / petty cash
  • Daily reconciliation of Sage bank records
  • Completing credit checks and reviewing proposed payment terms
  • Completion of VAT returns within the legal deadline dates
  • Preparation of quarterly management accounts and checking for accuracy before submission
  • The main point of contact for External financial audit team on a quarterly basis
  • Monthly EC List, Intrastate imports and exports
  • Short-term cash flow forecasting and cash management (including weekly meeting)
  • Monthly payroll/pension / PAYE update and maintenance of personnel records (holiday/sickness records)
  • Weekly (Friday) preparation of export documentation (invoices/packing list)

Skills and experience required:

  • AAT Qualified or above / QBE will be considered
  • Over 5 years' experience in a similar standalone accounts role or 3 years' experience within practice
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Sage
  • Extremely organised and self-motivated
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of HMRC VAT rules and taxation payments deadlines

Hours of work:

  • 8.00 am - 5.00pm Mon - Fri (40 hour week)
