Job Description

Our client, a successful manufacturing organisation, is seeking an Accounts Assistant to complete both Purchase Ledger and Payroll. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of current payroll and pension legislation and experience of processing both weekly and monthly payroll as well as purchase ledger. This role would suit someone who is methodical and highly organised and able to work on their own as well as be a team player in a busy working environment.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring the Accounts Department email account and distribute accordingly
  • Match invoices to delivery notes, raise and resolve any queries with the purchasing office
  • Post invoices onto Sage 200
  • Supplier statement reconciliations & query resolution
  • Se up new suppliers
  • Raise pre-payment schedule
  • Preparation of payment runs (BACS)
  • Reconciliation of expenses and credit cards and analysis of spend
  • Processing of weekly and monthly payroll for 35 employees
  • Allocation of hours and overtime
  • Monitor and update holiday and sickness reporting
  • Reporting of pension contributions and maintain auto-enrolment scheme records
  • Assistance with answering the telephone / reception duties
  • Other general ad-hoc duties as required to assist within a small but busy office

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience within a payroll and accounts role
  • Good working knowledge of Sage Payroll and Sage Line 50 (Sage 200 used within the office)
  • Good current knowledge of payroll and pension legislation
  • Numerate with a good eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and support other areas when needed
  • Good working knowledge of Excel is desirable

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm (30 mins lunch)

Salary and benefits:

  • Up to £22,000
  • 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
  • On-site parking
