Job Description

We have an exciting position for an Assistant to work with the Head of Finance for a manufacturing business based in Corby. The company is an ambitious subsidiary of a sector leading larger group. We are seeking a dynamic and commercially aware candidate who can assist the Head of Finance in the production of sound financial information. This role will also include cost analysis to ensure that the organisation is maximising its profitability. To be successful in this role you should possess excellent analytical skills along with the ability to combine different data and calculate profit margins.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting the Head of Finance with Cashflow forecasting and budgeting
  • Interact with Production Control to ensure Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date
  • Review and audit BOM's to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices
  • Analyse actual labour, raw material, and overhead cost against Standard/Budget reporting on variances
  • Aide in the development of new labour and overhead rates, budget, and forecasts
  • Transactional accounting duties as and when required
  • Assistance with the integration of Sage 200 software with required audit controls and processes

Skills and experience required:

  • 1-3 years' experience in an accounting position within a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis
  • Currently studying CIMA or AAT Level 4 and willing to study for CIMA
  • Computer literacy, MS Excel (familiarity with VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and Macros)
  • Experience with accounting software Sage 50, Sage 200 (desirable)
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
  • Extremely organised and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills, able to work in a small team
