Job Description

As part of a focused growth plan we are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to expand the current sales across the UK within the Grocery sector.We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Business Development Manager to join a growing organisation within the automated materials handling industry.

Duties & responsibilities of the appointed Business Development Engineer:

  • Working the full sales cycle from identifying prospects through to generating and bringing on new business
  • Prospecting selected customer segments with initial focus on the Grocery sector
  • Developing and maintaining wide contact networks (approvers, decision makers, influencers and information sources)
  • Identifying new leads & Qualifying sales enquiries
  • Arrange and attend sales meetings, pitch to potential new clients, this will involve travel to customer sites across the UK
  • Understanding client's operations and their current problems
  • Selling companies capability including the benefits and understanding the cost savings to provide a solution
  • Working with our engineering team to provide solutions specific to clients' requirements
  • Maintain contact with potential clients and develop relationships through to sale
  • Attending, exhibiting and presenting at exhibitions, conferencesand other events
  • The role will involve occasional travel to our European manufacturing centre and reference sites

Skills and experience required:

  • Must have a proven track record in sales ideally from the automated materials handling industry or experience selling into the Grocery sector, capital equipment sales and/or engineering products
  • Work experience in logistics/intralogistics ideal
  • Demonstrate a 'customer-centric' approach
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Self-starter, ability to set your own sales business plan
  • Exceptional relationship management skills
  • Highly organised and strong attention to detail
  • Confident, professional and approachable
  • Ambitious, hardworking and driven
  • Full driving licence essential
