Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer to work within the purchasing team for our client based in Lutterworth.

In this role, you will be responsible for the management and development of a portfolio of suppliers from which you will buy goods and services that are critical to the company's operations.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Regular review of purchasing MRP exceptions and placing orders with approved distributors, manufacturers and sub-contractors as appropriate
  • Sourcing and negotiation of best price with regards to quality, availability and specification
  • Minimising the stock holding whilst optimising the cost of purchase, balancing safety stocks and lead time reduction
  • Obtaining quotes and progressing orders for production products and consumables
  • Advising on supplier approval, unapproval and recommending new suppliers
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of robust procurement strategies
  • Own and drive initiatives to improve cost, quality and delivery performance
  • Control and improve company purchasing spends against clearly defined targets
  • Benchmark current supply base to continually improve cost/quality competitiveness

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of 10 years purchasing experience
  • MRP system experience desirable
  • Flexible attitude to work
  • CIPS qualified
  • Strategic planning
  • Competent in MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relationship building skills
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure
