We're working on behalf of a fantastic local company that provides a range of insightful business support services to its clients. The friendly team pride themselves on their reputation as a knowledgeable, innovative and approachable organisation and are looking for a talented Client Finance Partner to join them.

You needn't have had this specific job title before, but we're interested in accomplished and skilled accountancy professionals who would like to combine their financial expertise with a flair for client communication. This is a varied and interesting opportunity which offers the chance of involvement and input into wider commercial planning and project work.

Duties and responsibilities:

There's plenty of variety in this role. You'll take ownership of a number of day-to-day accounting tasks, as well as providing operational and analytical support to the team as follows:

  • Preparing month-end journals, accruals/prepayments, reconciliations and management accounts
  • Maintaining a range of ledgers
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Producing year-end trial balances and supporting schedules, in order to ensure the business is prepared for statutory accounts and audit
  • Producing insightful variance analysis, along with performance commentary
  • Supporting AP processes, providing input and guidance when required
  • Carrying out fixed asset analysis to include additions, disposals and depreciation
  • Providing analysis to support the preparation of tax reporting and claims
  • Monitoring and reconciling balance sheet controls, in order to ensure a limited exposure to the financial P&L
  • Acting and contributing as a Business Partner, offering helpful viewpoints and identifying opportunities to improve the bottom line
  • Supporting the Finance Business Manager with adhoc project work

Skills and experience required:

  • Extensive proven experience in a finance role, with the desire to broaden duties and gain involvement in wider commercial enterprises
  • CIMA or ACCA part-qualification is essential
  • Skilled in carrying out management and financial accounting, as well as budgets and cash flow forecasting
  • Able to take a client finance partner approach, having worked directly with clients before
  • Happy to visit clients 2-3 times per month, with the occasional overnight business stay
  • Interested and proficient in providing insightful analytical information, with examples of how this has been of benefit and value in previous roles
  • Demonstrates a talent for explaining business performance in a clear and engaging manner
  • Comfortable and confident at networking events

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm (37.5 hours per week)
