Job Description

We're currently recruiting an experienced Finance Manager on behalf a well-reputed and successful toy distributor, known internationally for their well-loved brands.

The successful candidate will monitor and manage the day-to-day financial operations within the company, as well as providing insightful analytical information to the Managing Director to assist with strategical decision making.

This is an interesting and varied role, and presents a wonderful opportunity to join an enterprising and cohesive team, with the joint vision of driving forward the continued growth and success of the company.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Review financial data and prepare monthly P&L and cashflow reports and present in formal meetings
  • Year-end reporting
  • Completion of payroll and submission of information to HMRC
  • Day-to-day transactional accounting
  • Completion of credit checks and reviewing proposed payment terms
  • Overseeing the completion of VAT returns within the legal deadline dates
  • Ensuring all taxation payments have been raised in good time for the legal deadline dates
  • Provide monthly insight around costs and any associated variance
  • Overseeing the debtor management process to ensure that debts are recovered on time and to minimise bad debt - seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company
  • Tracking the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
  • 'hands on approach' to assisting other areas of the business as working within a small but growing team

Skills and experience required:

  • QBE or relevant accounting qualification
  • Over 5 years' experience within a similar standalone role
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Sage
  • Technically knowledgeable along with good commercial acumen
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and an interest in seeing the role and business develop

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm with 1/5-hour lunch break

Salary and benefits:

  • £30,000 - £35,000
  • 23 days annual holiday + 8 bank holidays (3 to be taken at Christmas)
  • Discretionary bonus
