We're proud to be recruiting on behalf of an award-winning and innovative local travel company, who are currently looking for a talented and forward-thinking Financial Controller to join their friendly and industrious team.

Duties and responsibilities:

The role will involve a range of important day-to-day financial duties:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts
  • Producing and delivering budgets, forecasts and reports for the Management Team
  • Sending required quarterly reports to a variety of professional bodies and industry associations
  • Carrying out cost and margin analysis
  • Performing regular bank reconciliations
  • Ensuring timely completion of VAT returns
  • Overseeing purchase ledger and credit control activity

As the leading Financial officer within the company, you will also enjoy the following responsibilities:

  • Involvement in weekly Senior Management Team meetings
  • Helping to identify areas for process improvement within the organisation, along with recommending any necessary changes and implementing them
  • Assisting with ongoing technology projects aimed at streamlining and automating the business
  • Supporting the company growth plan and contributing ideas for further development

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven track record as a Financial Manager, Financial Controller or in a senior financial role, ideally within an SME environment
  • Enjoys implementing change, and is able to give examples of previously contributing to the successful improvement of processes within a business
  • Demonstrates a can-do, proactive and motivated approach to any task
  • Strong IT skills, with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Sage

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm

Salary and benefits:

  • £45,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience
  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
