Job Description

We're proud to be recruiting a Financial Controller on behalf of a well-reputed local company with a long history of design expertise in their specialist field of engineering. With a growing portfolio of high-profile clients, they are known for delivering an excellent bespoke manufacturing service.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the finance function of a small group of companies; with the primary focus being the multi-million turnover manufacturing business.

An aspiration to progress within the organisation will be actively encouraged and supported; and applications are welcomed from financial professionals who would like to enhance their career, perhaps adding Company Secretary duties and board room involvement for the first time.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Producing period-end accounts within 4 days of the period close
  • Monitoring and controlling cashflow
  • Currency FX management for GBP, EUR and USD using forward/participator options
  • Carrying out annual audit for three group companies
  • Building effective working relationships with Auditors, Tax Consultants, Brokers and Bank Managers
  • Attending board meeting to provide supporting commentary on financial performance
  • Provide operations managers with strategic financial information and liaise with them to drive awareness, achieve business goals and efficiencies
  • Acting as Company Secretary; completing statutory records, ensuring returns are logged on time and maintaining registers of shareholders and directors
  • Preparing board meeting agendas, recording and producing minutes and distributing board papers
  • Supervising a small financial administration team
  • Taking responsibility for group insurance, PAYE, VAT and pensions
  • Managing the company fleet of vehicles

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree qualified, with a professional accountancy qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
  • Extensive post-qualification experience, with a substantial amount of this being in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior day-to-day management of a finance team
  • Costing expertise, developed through having worked in a manufacturing / raw material to finished goods processing business of at least £5m turnover
  • Sound knowledge of ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
  • Exposure to and understanding of IT networks

Hours of work:

Mon-Thurs 8.00am - 5.15pm / Fri 8.00am - 1.00pm
