Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Manager - Collections to work with a specialist bank dedicated to help SME's within the UK grow by providing exceptional services within commercial property loan lending and commercial savings. The role will be assisting with the management of non-performing loans minimising bad debts along with coaching and developing team members in account rehabilitation and arrears management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of daily loan arrears through the Collection team
  • Provision of advice and support to borrowers - developing / implementing ideal strategies to return loans to performing status
  • Assess borrowers' recovery plans and implementation plans along with monitoring performance of loans against recovery plans
  • Identify borrowers who do not have a credible recovery strategy and move accounts into resolution (e.g. receivership, call up of guarantees, etc)
  • To assess, analyse and make recommendations to the Senior Manager, Collections of appropriate action on non-performing loans to aid recovery and mitigate losses
  • Liaison with Solicitor, Insolvency Practitioner and /or Receiver to recovery the Bank's debt
  • Liaise with the Bank's internal and external receivers, valuers and property managers to maximise the amount realised from the resolution of distressed loans
  • Regular reporting to SMT on the progress made with the Bank's "problem accounts"
  • Review recovery processes and recommend changes that will deliver operational efficiencies
  • Ensure that the Bank's values and culture of Conduct Risk Awareness, including Treating Customers Fairly, are embedded within its processes and form part of the decision-making process
  • Ensure compliance with Bank and regulatory policies to minimise risk

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience within commercial banking relationship management and commercial property lending is required
  • Experience of managing distressed debt and working knowledge of recovery strategies
  • Commercial awareness
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Full drivers licence and access to own transport (client visits)

Salary and benefits:

  • Circa £35,000
  • Non-contractual bonus (up to 10%)
  • Pension (10% employer / 3% employee)
