Job Description

We are currently supporting the recruitment of an experienced Data Steward for our client based in Leicester.

This position is primarily responsible for maintaining Material Master Data in the ERP system. The Data Steward is responsible for validating new part requests and amendments to ensure they meet the Company standard. To work in an efficient manner to ensure the Master Data is accurate and available to support the needs of the business. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a large established global company.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure Material accuracy and availability to support the needs of the business
  • To maintain/update Material Master on the SAP ERP system
  • To validate and challenge requests in accordance with the criteria provided
  • To work efficiently to maintain a KPI of a 2-day turn around
  • To support colleagues with adhoc data maintenance requests
  • To support obsolescence programmes with appropriate data control management
  • To undertake continuous improvement exercises and specific projects as requested by the Team Leader

Skills and experience required:

  • Must be comfortable working with cross functional project teams with emphasis on close links with sales, purchasing and order management
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within engineering environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices, standards/specs, computers
  • Experience of pressure systems / vessels and relevant Codes is desirable
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Must have outstanding numerical, quantitative analytical thinking, organisational abilities and project management
  • Experience in resolving data issues with a cross functional matrix team
  • Ability to influence others and support a productive, motivated and committed environment
  • Strong demonstrated ability for discipline and highly self-motivated for working on repetitive and routine tasks independently and under pressure, while achieving high standard results
  • Ability to build, develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Ability for high problem identification and problem resolution, demonstrated ability to make sound judgment and decisions
  • A pronounced customer-centric focus, performance accountability, innovation and adaptability, positive energy, respect and teamwork and absolute integrity
  • Knowledge and experience in working with manufacturing-based technology and systems / tools, SAP etc. is key to support efficiency and measure KPI's
  • Good communication skills and ability to quickly establish positive rapport with stakeholders and other project team members
  • Ability to present information logically and professionally
  • Administration experience highly desirable
  • Prior experience of data management within an ERP environment essential

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm
  • Friday 08.30am - 3.30pm
