Job Description

Our client, a successful accountancy practice, is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join their growing organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a friendly practice with a very good reputation for high quality personal service. The role will predominantly be end to end Payroll but may also include some bookkeeping during quiet periods.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Processing and preparation of weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly client payrolls
  • Processing of all aspects of statutory leave, holiday calculations and submission of returns to HMRC
  • Provision of payroll reports for management
  • Processing of attachment of earnings
  • Monthly bank reconciliations with payroll
  • Auto enrolment and weekly / monthly submission of pension payments
  • Involvement in client bookkeeping

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of 2 years previous payroll experience and good knowledge of legislation
  • Previous bookkeeping experience will be an advantage
  • IT literate with previous experience of Sage Payroll and Xero would be advantageous but training provided
  • Disciplined self-starter, assertive and consultative
  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality


  • Monday to Thursday 9.00am - 5.30pm
  • Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm

Salary and benefits:

  • Circa £23,000 dependent on experience
  • 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
