Job Description

Our client, a sporting body based in Leicestershire are recruiting for a PR Executive to join their expanding team, providing support by generating, planning and delivering effective and engaging PR opportunities.

Ideally you will have experience working in a press office environment and have recent experience managing media contacts.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To establish and maintain strong relationships between the organisation and local, regional, national and international media
  • To broaden PR reach through engaging new media outlets that can more effectively promote the organisation
  • Work with relevant departments to identify and plan effective, creative PR opportunities
  • Write and deliver appropriate briefs to ensure that all stakeholders are adequately prepared for all relevant PR opportunities so that their involvement can be maximised
  • Contribute to the organisation's in-house content platforms as is necessary, particularly around the time of key events
  • To work with the Media Relations Officer to explore opportunities to combine media obligations with positive PR opportunities that recognize the organisation's work in other community and charitable fields

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum two years' experience in a press office environment with experience of managing media contacts
  • Excellent people skills and an able to build long-term relationships both with colleagues and the media
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to adapt to changing circumstances at short notice
  • Understanding of media, including the influence of digital and social media
  • Creative and accurate copywriting skills and proof-reading experience
  • Able to listen to others and work well as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Competence in IT, including the use of standard Microsoft Office programmes
