Job Description

We're delighted to be supporting an innovative Corby-based business with the recruitment of a skilled Transport Planning and Purchasing Assistant. As leaders in their industry, this company is renowned for producing cutting-edge private label products for use in a range of business sectors.

In this varied and interesting role, the successful candidate will work within a busy supply chain department, supporting the friendly team with transport booking, purchasing duties and other administrative tasks.

Duties and responsibilities:

Transport

  • Providing technical assistance by responding to system enquiries regarding errors, problems or questions
  • Arranging transport with specified hauliers, ensuring goods are collected and delivered on time
  • Liaising with the Sales Department with regards to despatch dates
  • Working with the warehouse over space availability and ensuring minimum finished stock holding
  • Raising Finished Goods Delivery Notes
  • Carrying out warehouse part-pallet checking and ensuring correct quantities are being despatched
  • Booking in raw material deliveries while ensuring the warehouse is not over booked
  • Liaising with pallet suppliers for booking in / out, ordering pallets as required for the factory finished goods requirements
  • Checking and signing off transport invoices
  • Obtaining transport quotes as required
  • Creating reports and maintaining spreadsheets

Purchasing and Administration

  • Raising works orders and completing works order transfers
  • Setting up new products
  • Booking raw materials into Sage
  • Reviewing and updating the mixing plan and raw materials requirements
  • Carrying out any other administrative or business-related activities as required and directed by management

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven career background in a transport planning role, with experience of liaising with hauliers
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook (proficiency in Sage is also advantageous)
  • Understanding of stock management processes and systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoys working with resilience in a fast-paced and varied role, with evidence of meeting deadlines successfully
  • Confident telephone manner, with effective communication and negotiation skills

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm with 30 minutes lunch break

Salary and benefits:

  • £18,000 - £21,000
