Job description:
We are currently recruiting a Bookkeeper (full or part-time) for a family run business that has been established for nearly 30 years. This organisation has children at the heart of everything they do and plays a key role in the educational, social and physical development skills of children across their 6 sites in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
Reporting into the Directors at their Head Office you will be joining an SME organisation who are passionate about the services they provide to local communities. The role will be completing the day-to-day accounts for 6 sites and liaising with an external accountant. This will be a busy and rewarding role and would suit someone who enjoys working within a busy office environment.
Salary and benefits:
- £28,000 – £30,000 (pro rata for part-time) dependent upon experience
- Statutory pension
- 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays

Hours of work:
- 37.5 hours per week (full-Time) / 25 – 30 hours per week part-time
- Note: for the part-time role there will be external assistance on the transactional processing
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for accounts up to trial balance across 6 sites
- Managing supplier direct debit payments
- Bank reconciliations
- Preparing cash flow statements
- Monthly payroll for 100 employees including HMRC and pension returns
- Developing monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets
- Liaison with accountant for month end and year end accounts
Skills and experience required:
- AAT / QBE
- Previous experience of working in a standalone accounting position within a similar role
- Experience with accounting software Xero and Sage Payroll (desirable) good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP’s)
- Good knowledge of accounting procedures
- Ability to set up / define new processes
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Enjoys working autonomously
- Enjoys taking ownership of tasks and working with a self-motivated and enterprising approach
