Are you a commercially astute bookkeeping professional looking for an interesting and fulfilling part-time role? We’re delighted to present this fantastic opportunity for an Estate Bookkeeper to bring their accounts expertise to a prestigious estate, offering the chance to work in a picturesque historical and rural setting.
Reporting to the resident owner, you take responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the Estate and all related accounts administration processes.
The successful candidate will enjoy working cohesively as part of a small friendly team based in the Estate office, which plays an important part as a hub for the local community.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Taking responsibility for the financial control of the Estate enterprises
- Accurately raising demands and processing invoices
- Analysing payments and receipts, and raising inter-departmental invoices in a timely fashion
- Undertaking bank reconciliations, no less than once a month
- Producing creditor, debtor and management reports, along with analysing cashflows, and delivering this information to the management team
- Managing petty cash
- Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets
- Coordinating year end accounts and preparing tax returns in conjunction with an external accountant
- Liaising with external professional advisors as required
- Challenging existing practice, and identifying opportunities for innovation
Skills and experience required:
- Extensive relevant experience in a bookkeeping or accounts role, ideally within involvement in estates, agriculture or land management.
- Relevant qualification such as IAgSA, AAT or similar
- Friendly, positive and helpful verbal communication skills
- Able to produce clear, well-structured and dramatically accurate documents, reports and correspondence
- Works in a well-organised fashion, with excellent attention to detail
- Understands the importance of discretion and confidentiality
Hours of work:
- 3 days per week, 8.30am – 5.00pm (7.5 hours per day – 22.5 hours per week)
Salary and benefits:
- £28,000 – £30,000 (pro-rata)
- 20 days + 8 bank holidays (pro-rata)
