    We’re looking for an outstanding Financial Controller to join an established marketing technology organisation and report into the MD. You will take responsibility for the financial strategy and reporting but my client needs someone who also can role their sleeves up and get involved in the detail. You will need to have strong people management skills and previous experience of finance system migration and exposure to working in a PE / VC environment is highly desirable.

    The objective of this role will not only be to ensure the financial success of their operation through taking ownership and control of all budgets/ forecasts and financials but to play an important wider part in the advancement of the business through your commercial expertise in in order to support the strategic objectives of the business. This role offers hybrid working.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Day-to-day management of the finance function
    • “Hands on” accountant taking full responsibility for month end accounting including accruals, prepayments, cash flow and treasury function
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements through automation of processes and tasks throughout the finance function and beyond to maximise technology usage, deliver costs savings and productivity improvements
    • Review of current accounting and reporting software to ensure scalability in line with company objectives
    • Provide timely and accurate management reports to key managers, and constantly strive to enhance content, understanding and usage across the business. This includes monthly management accounts, KPI’s, customer profitability, forecasting and monthly cashflow
    • Finance lead for external parties and manage insurance, banking and audit requirements
    • Ensure compliance with all statutory and fiscal regulations within specified timeframes including liaison with external parties where necessary. Includes annual financial accounts for all UK legal entities, annual corporation tax returns, quarterly VAT returns, intrastat, Registrar of Companies and National Statistics
    • Management of the annual budgeting process
    • Support with reviewing ad hoc client pricing proposals presented by commercial managers, ensuring profitability and fit with the company’s strategy
    • Manage the accounts payable, cashback and other processes outsourced to the European operations centre
    • Maintenance of accurate UK balance sheet accounts, including all bank accounts, assets and liabilities
    • Maintain UK and the European operations centre fixed asset registers; ensuring all necessary paperwork for capital items is provided to the overseas accountant

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified professional
    • 3 years post qualified experience
    • Previous experience of working with VC / PE environments is desirable
    • Migration of financial systems experience (lead) is desirable
    • Auditing of finance and ISO14001
    • Modelling and forecasting capabilities
    • Ability to successfully adapt to changing demands and conditions within an environment of change
    • Confident in challenging and influencing both finance and non-finance stakeholders
    • Ability to highlight commercial opportunities and risk
    • Strong people management and leadership skills
    • Enjoys taking bold steps to meet ambitious targets through the development of highly organised, well prioritised and resilient processes.

     

    Salary and benefits:

    • Salary banding £65,000 – £75,000 + £7,500 car allowance
    • Bonus scheme
