    We’re delighted to be recruiting for a Head of Finance on behalf of a local charitable organisation. Joining an exciting and fast-paced business, the successful applicant will demonstrate a passion and drive for working with colleagues at all levels to devise and implement an effective finance strategy. You will also be involved in producing accurate financial and management accounts and overseeing the day to day accounting processes for the business.

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Preparing management accounts with commentary and variances
    • Creation and delivery of budgets
    • Carrying out forecasting and financial reporting as required by the senior management team
    • Preparation of annual accounts for external audit and internal review by the board
    • Implementing the finance business plan
    • Leading the strategic direction and decision making of the Finance function
    • Managing cashflow and cash purchasing for the business
    • Explore and initiate opportunities for reducing costs and maximizing efficiencies to increase profit margins
    • VAT returns
    • Overseeing day to day accounting processes and assisting where required
    • Involvement in purchasing process

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified
    • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a charitable or not-for-profit organisation
    • Demonstrates an extensive knowledge of VAT
    • Ability to successfully adapt to changing demands and conditions within an environment of change and growth.
    • IT proficient, with good understanding and experience of Sage accounting software
    • Sound commercial acumen
    • Takes a positive, resilient approach to work and enjoys problem solving
    • Enjoys working as part of a cohesive team
    • Helpful and approachable, with excellent written and verbal communication skills

     

    Hours of work:

    • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

     

    Salary and benefits:

    • £45,000 – £50,000
    • 22 days annual leave + bank holidays
