    Job description:

    We are pleased to be supporting an established Solicitors practice with their recruitment of a Legal Cashier.

    You will be reporting into the managing partner and will have one direct report of an Accounts Assistant. The role will be covering sites in Kettering and Corby and will be an office-based role out of the Kettering site.

    You will be working closely with the fee earners to process finance transactions and ensure the smooth running of the finance function. You will need strong technical and communication skills as you will be communicating with clients, suppliers, Partners, and other staff members daily. Candidates will be considered who are looking to move into a senior / lead cashier role.



    • £30,000 – £35,000

    Hours of Work:

    • Monday – Friday 8.45am – 5pm (45 minutes for lunch) – 37.5 hours per week
    • Full-time or part-time hours considered (28 hours minimum per week – flexible on hours)


    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Dealing with all day-to-day client and office payments
    • Reconciling bank, general ledgers, and control accounts
    • VAT returns
    • Completion of all client billing
    • Processing payments and transfers daily via an online banking system
    • Month and year end duties
    • Liaison with external accountancy firm
    • Producing monthly reports to all fee earners
    • Working with fee earners to ensure matter balances are kept accurate and up to date
    • Completion of monthly payroll for both offices using Sage Payroll (training will be given)
    • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules


    Skills and experience required:

    • Minimum of 3 year’s previous experience within a legal practice in a standalone role or as a lead cashier
    • Attention to detail is key to being successful within this role
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to work effectively on own initiative
    • Good understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
    • Good working Microsoft Office (Excel / Word) and experience of legal software preferably LEAP with knowledge of Sage Payroll and Xero Accounts being desirable
