    We’re currently supporting a busy local organisation with the recruitment of an enterprising Physical Activity Development Officer.

    In this varied and extremely interesting role, the Physical Activity Development Officer will help to improve Health & Wellbeing and increase the physical activity participation levels of adults, young people and children within the local region through the development, coordination and promotion of a range of health, wellbeing and physical activity opportunities.

    This is a fixed term contract, with an anticipated duration of approximately 4 – 6 months.

     

    As Physical Activity Development Officer, your duties and responsibilities will include:

    • Developing a range of health, wellbeing and physical activity opportunities across the region
    • Using sport and physical activity as a tool to help improve other partner objectives
    • Developing a range of interventions to increase the participation of individuals, groups and communities
    • Working closely with and meeting key local partners
    • Analysing and using national data to assess the current levels of physical activity and health in the region
    • Coordinating the marketing and promotion of local physical activity opportunities
    • Keep up to date with new guidelines, policies and guidance around physical activity, sport and health
    • Supervising a team of staff and volunteers to deliver a range of health, wellbeing and physical activity opportunities, identifying and implementing training opportunities
    • Delivering activities when required, health, to ensure continuation of service
    • Assist with managing and monitoring income and expenditure
    • Maintaining a database of participants, coaches, and other groups as appropriate
    • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the success of projects
    • Attending meetings, which may sometimes be outside normal office hours and at weekends

     

    We’re looking for a Physical Activity Development Officer who has the following skills and experience:

    • You will either be educated to a degree level in a sports related subject OR be able to demonstrate experience of developing, coordinating and promoting health and wellbeing programmes
    • Community volunteering experience would be beneficial
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
    • IT proficient, with good knowledge of MS Office and an understanding of how to complete spreadsheets
    • Good understanding of a variety of social media channels
    • Able to work independently using initiative, while also enjoying working as part of a collaborative team
    • Self-motivated, with strong organisation, time management and prioritisation skills

    • A full, valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle is essential for the requirements of this role

     

    Salary and benefits:

    • Up to £26,000
    • Working from home initially, progressing to a hybrid role

     

    The role involves regular travel around the local area to visit various venues and partnership organisations.

    You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You may also be required to work occasional evenings and weekends in which time will be given in lieu.
