We’re delighted to be recruiting a full-time or part-time Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant on behalf of a well-established, family-owned accountancy practice based in Market Harborough. This exciting Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant vacancy offers the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team, working with a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of sectors. The successful candidate will become part of a respected practice that values long-term client relationships, professional development and the delivery of an excellent service.
- £28,000 – £32,000 dependent upon experience (pro-rata for part-time)
- Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 4:45pm, Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm
- 33-hour working week with a 30-minute lunch break
- Part-time applications considered with a minimum of 25 hours per week
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time)

Duties and responsibilities
- Managing bookkeeping and VAT work for a varied client portfolio
- Assisting with the preparation of accounts
- Supporting the preparation of self-assessment and corporation tax returns
- Carrying out general compliance and administrative accounting duties
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients and responding to queries in a professional manner
- Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring work is completed to a high standard
Required skills and experience
- Previous experience in an accounting, bookkeeping role preferably within practice
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards an AAT qualification
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage workload effectively and work independently when required
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive client relationships
