We’re looking for a Materials Planner with previous experience to join our manufacturing client based in Kettering.
Supporting the Materials team to ensure Purchase Orders are placed in line with requirements and within the agreed supplier lead-times, working within agreed target stock levels to ensure minimal write off exposure. This role includes liaising with suppliers and sharing longer-term forecast visibility.
This is a temporary assignment for around up to 6 months duration. Due to business requirements, applicants must be available to start in January.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensuring materials are readily available to meet production plans to achieve target service levels and to identify/mitigate potential risks
- Identifying demand requirements and managing orders with suppliers in line with the SLA’s
- Proactively tracking purchase orders to ensure on time delivery and all advanced requirements are met prior to good being received
- Monitoring stock levels in line with the inventory stock holding targets
- Working with the production planners to ensure any plan change decisions avoid incurring additional costs
- Managing suppliers on a day-to-day basis.
- Monitoring and reporting supplier performance data and reviewing supplier demand forecasts
Skills and experience required:
- Previous experience in a planning/inventory role
- Able to communicate in a friendly, professional and effective way (both written & verbal)
- Experience of liaising with suppliers and managing those relationships
- Stakeholder management experience would be an advantage
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail as well as strong organisational and planning skills
- IT proficient, and able to use Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and databases
- Can interpret and explain data confidently and clearly
Hours of work:
- Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 hour for lunch
- Hybrid working
Salary and benefits:
- £13 – £15 per hour
