We’re looking for an experienced Purchase Ledger Assistant on behalf of an award-winning developer specialising in international housing and infrastructure projects.
As part of a friendly and industrious team, you will play a key role within the finance function, working closely with the Purchase Ledger Controller and the Group Financial Controller.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Coding and processing of all invoices (high volume and multiple line)
- Assist with the Bank Reconciliation for all bank accounts
- Age Creditors maintenance including pro-actively chasing invoices for pro-forma payments
- Query resolution
- Supplier statement reconciliation
- Checking and matching receipts with expenses
- Manage and reconcile Petty Cash monthly and check petty cash reconciliation from other offices
- Obtain monthly credit card receipts, create and post the credit card transaction journal
- Assist with VAT reconciliations
- Maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers
- Continuous process improvement review
- Ad hoc assistance within projects as and when required
Skills and experience required:
- AAT qualification / studying desirable but not essential
- Bookkeeping skills with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a high-volume purchase ledger environment (international ledger desirable)
- Strong knowledge of accountancy software – Sage 200 desirable along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills due to dealing with large volumes of data (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, formulas)
- Ability to successfully adapt to changing demands and conditions
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and support other areas when needed
- Enjoys taking ownership of tasks and working with a self-motivated and enterprising approach
- Highly competent in analysis and interpretation of information
- Highly numerate with high degree of accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in developing relationships with internal customers
Hours of work:
- Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm
Salary and benefits:
- £22,000 – £26,000
- 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
