    Job description:

    We are pleased to be supporting an established Solicitors practice with their recruitment of a Legal Cashier.

    Based on-site in Kettering, you will be working with the accounts assistant and reporting into the Managing Partner. The role will be completing accounts for two sites where you will be working closely with the fee earners to process finance transactions to ensure the smooth running of the finance function.

    You will need a good understanding of SARS and strong communication skills as you will be communicating with clients, suppliers, and staff members daily.

    If you are currently working in a legal role and would like to step up to that next level, then this might be the role for you. For areas not currently completed below, training will be provided.

     

    Hours of Work:

    • Monday to Friday 8.45am – 5pm (45 minutes for lunch) – 37.5 hours per week

     

    Salary:

    • £30,000 – £35,000

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Dealing with all day-to-day client and office payments
    • Reconciling bank, general ledgers, and control accounts
    • VAT returns
    • Completion of all client billing
    • Processing payments and transfers daily via an online banking system
    • Month and year end duties
    • Liaison with external accountancy firm
    • Producing monthly reports to all fee earners
    • Working with fee earners to ensure matter balances are kept accurate and up to date
    • Completion of monthly payroll for both offices using Sage Payroll (training will be given)
    • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • Minimum of 3 year’s previous experience within a legal practice
    • Attention to detail is key to being successful within this role
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to work effectively on own initiative
    • Good understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
    • Good working Microsoft Office (Excel / Word) and experience of legal software preferably LEAP with knowledge of Sage Payroll and Xero Accounts being desirable
