Our client is seeking an Accounts / Finance Assistant to join their growing organisation and work directly with the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will be working for an ambitious and dynamic company that pride themselves on their reputation as a knowledgeable, innovative and approachable organisation.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Accounts up to trial balance
  • Management of sales and purchase ledger
  • Client account reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations, posting and balancing
  • Daily receipts processing
  • Preparation of payment runs and BACS transfers
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register, including calculation and posting of depreciation
  • Responsible for managing correspondence to and from HMRC and therefore required to draft letters to a professional standard
  • Responsible for debtor management
  • Supporting with the administration and execution of Payroll calculations and pension administration
  • Providing support to both the external Auditor and the Financial Controller during the external audit process
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial reports for Directors

 

Skills and experience required:

  • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles (only AAT Level 3 and above will be considered)
  • Over 3 years of experience working in a similar role
  • A high level of IT user competence, particularly in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP’s & Formulas) with practical experience of using accountancy software systems (Xero desirable)
  • A progressive, ambitious and forward-thinking approach
  • An approachable and engaging communicator
  • Ability to exercise judgement and work without close supervision

 

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm

 

Salary and benefits:

  • Up to £26,000
  • 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
