    Job description:

    We’re currently recruiting for a part-time Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper on behalf of an SME organisation. The successful applicant will be hands on and take responsibility for the accounts up to trial balance for this growing organisation. This is a standalone accounts position, and you will be reporting into the Managing Director and liaising with the external accountant. This is an interesting role and presents a wonderful opportunity to join a progressive SME where you can get fully immersed in the business.

    Hours of work:

    • Part-time 20 hours per week across 5 days (flexible on timings)

     

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Accounts up to trial balance
    • Sales and purchase ledger – posting, invoicing, and reconciling
    • Posting of receipts
    • Raising of supplier payments and completion of payment run
    • Supplier query resolution
    • Daily bank reconciliations
    • Collation of payroll for external accountant and completion of payroll journals
    • Cash flow forecasting
    • VAT returns
    • Credit control (minimal)
    • Collation of information for Corporation Tax returns
    • Liaising with the accountants, HMRC and other authorities

     

    Skills and experience required:

    • AAT qualified or studying desirable but QBE will be considered
    • Good understanding of double entry bookkeeping / minimum of 5 years previous experience of working in a similar position
    • Experience Xero and good working knowledge of Excel (pivot tables / VLOOKUP’s)
    • Ability to set up / define new processes and look at working efficiencies
    • Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
    • Organised and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills
    • Team orientated individual
