Hello and welcome to July,
This time last year I was talking to you about the summer holidays and our temps service to help get you through the peak holiday season. But this year, the EU Referendum and now Brexit, is foremost in all our minds and I obviously couldn’t ignore it.
The lead up to the referendum was all about big claims, scaremongering and propaganda, from both the ‘remain’ and the ‘leave’ campaigns. But now the UK has spoken and we have voted to leave the EU. This has left our country in a bit of a quandary about what happens next, when do we trigger Article 50 and commence proceedings to leave the EU and what kind of deal will we manage to negotiate.
So what do we do in the meantime? For us at Vanilla, the message I am delivering to my team is one of calm and to carry on as normal; to all pull together to recruit the best people we can for our clients as we all know our businesses are only as good as the people we have. We all exercised our democratic right on the 23rd June, and as a democracy we go with the majority vote, whether you backed it or not. Nobody knows for certain which would have been the best outcome, and we never will because we can only take the one path.
Choosing a positive viewpoint, now is our opportunity to work together to decide on the best way forward and how exactly we want the UK to prosper. It’s going to be hard work, but then anything that’s worth doing always is. There has been a lot of negativity and anger on social media, but moving forward those emotions aren’t going to help us if we want to make a positive change.
If we focus on the future, remain positive and optimistic, and if we do see this as an opportunity and not a threat, we can try to be a change for good and attempt to put the ‘great’ back into Great Britain – bit cheesy I know, but I think it’s true.
I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts on how we now move forward or how it may affect your recruitment plans, drop me a line email@example.com
So what else has been going on this month? We won’t dwell on English football but let’s celebrate how well Wales have done. As a home nation and an underdog (and because my husband is Welsh), it was good to see them reach the semi finals of the Euro's. It was a great journey while it lasted and a postive message about working together.
Maybe now I can drop into conversation our temps service. If you are worried about covering holidays between now and September, do get in touch with us. We have a fantastic temporary work force; they can cover roles like;
- Legal secretary
- Marketing manager
- Data entry
- Project management
- Design/ creative
- Finance roles
… to name just a few. If you need just one day’s cover, or a few weeks or even months, we can work with you to find you someone great for your business. Get in touch with Sarah Clarke or Red Brennan on 01858 898 058 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
And finally we’d like to share some lovely team Vanilla news… At the beginning of June, Laura Barby welcomed her second child into the world. A beautiful little girl named Jemima, and both mummy and daughter are happy and well. We send all our love to the whole Barby family, such wonderful news.
I hope you all have a lovely and sunny July and I’ll be back in touch in August.
