When your drive to work is in the dark and your drive home is in the dark, your evenings are short and you just want to hibernate. You can be forgiven for not wanting to write your CV and kick start a job search.

As a recruiter, we always prepare ourselves for a busy January. Businesses have new budgets, everyone has had a nice break over the holidays. And of course lots of people have resolutions and a ‘new year, new me’ mentality.
Every year we are really busy in January. We get lots of jobs to work on and we get lots of job seekers registering their interest. But this isn’t the only surge in the recruitment market that we are seeing in the year. Spring is rivalling January for job opportunities.
As soon as the lighter nights start, the daffodils come out and the weather gets a bit better, everyone perks up. There’s more optimism in the air.
With it being the start of a new financial year in April, businesses want to kick off their new plans. This often results in lots of new job roles being created, as well as promotions and side ways moves.
This is great news for you if you’ve been getting itchy feet.
Our advice is to work out what you’re looking for. Is it to be closer to home, to get a promotion, work for a different brand, change your hours, earn more money? Really think through your reasons for wanting to leave your current job, then list what you think will make you happier or what you are looking for from your work life balance.
